Leeds beats Manchester at Festival Exhibition

LEEDS attendance figures for the Festival of Britain Land Travelling Exhibition are beating Manchester’s “hands down,” a Festival official said today.

Total for the first three days in Leeds is 26,120 – which is 11,467 more than the number in the first three days at Manchester.

Yesterday’s Leeds total of 7.371 was well over double Manchester’s third day total.

Up to this morning, seven prizes in the Leeds Shopping Festival spotting competition had been claimed.

7.30 p.m. Leeds Amateur Operatic Society present “Merrie England,” Temple Newsam; Concert parties, Roundhay Park; open-air dancing, Woodhouse Moor; “In Good King Charles’s Golden Days,” Civic Theatre; the Donna Roma ballet, the Hollies; “The Mikado” at the Riley-Smith Hall, Leeds University.

8 p.m. Demonstration of loading tanks on to giant transporters by 46th (Leeds Rifles) Royal Tank Regt. (T.A.) and 103 Tank Transporter Column R.A.S.C, Woodhouse Moor.

Daily events include the Shopping Festival, National Exhibition, R.A.F., Military and Road Safety Exhibitions, on Woodhouse Moor; Exhibitions of Music Scores, Town Hall; Book Publisher’s Exhibition, Art Gallery.
